Total Metals Recovery
Total Metals Recovery™ is a new approach to element separation, mining technology, and water processing that emphasizes a simple outcome: any materials we extract from the Earth should go to products we use, not to waste we wish we didn’t have. Developed by a former director of the chemical lab at the NASA jet propulsion laboratory - our Solid Phase Extraction (SPE) columns use nano-composite material to enable a higher yield, lower cost, and more sustainable solution to traditional methods of element separation, production, and recovery.
Every element on the periodic table has intrinsic value and a market. Most mining and industrial processes release many elements, not just one or a few of the most valuable elements. Metals U.S. works with its partners toward recovering the full value of minerals extracted from an ore or industrial solution source processed with SPE technology, so all the elements generate value in the economy rather than damage to the environment.
It is nearly impossible to achieve Total Metal Recovery with conventional technology. The superior operating and separating capability of Solid Phase Extraction technology is a paradigm shift in metal processing. Indeed, the processing cost is low enough so as to be more than offset by the operation, regulatory, and decommissioning costs associated with accumulating a waste stream. Often times, recovering waste metals enables expensive reagents, such as cyanide in gold mining, to be recycled rather than disposed of. This means huge process savings. And it is often the case that the value of the metals recovered and sold more than pay for the cost of processing.
Bringing metals processing onsite
Our Solid Phase Extraction columns are small and portable, allowing for processing facilities to be developed and placed "on-site." Whether it's a mine, a river, a toxic waste site, or a processing facility, Metals U.S. can adapt its patented technology to fit the desired solution. Our technology can be programmed to selectively process only the desired metals. In addition, it is more effective at separating metals such as Rare Earth elements, that until now were prohibitively expensive to process at the purity levels that Metals U.S. can achieve.
"The end result is a nano-technology precipitation system that speeds up reaction kinetics by a factor of 100 to 1,000, or maybe more because it all happens so darned fast that it’s within the blink of an eye."
